Progress starts in the orchard
How do you make your crop futureproof? What do new technologies actually mean for your business? And how can you collaborate smartly with others in the chain? During the Open Day at the Fruit Research Centre Randwijk you will find answers to these questions. On Wednesday 13 August you will meet fellow growers, researchers, tech partners and students. You will experience how applied research, innovation and real-world implementation come together in the orchard. Everything you need to move forward with confidence and insight.
Program Open Day Fruit Research Centre Randwijk
You are welcome from 14.30 onwards at the central exhibition area, where dozens of organisations from across the sector will showcase their latest insights, products and technologies. There is plenty of space to exchange ideas, ask questions and expand your network.
New this year is the flexible format of the thematic tours. Instead of fixed time slots, you choose which tour to join. A new tour starts every 15 minutes from the exhibition area. Each one lasts about an hour and is led by experts from the field.
From 15.00 into the evening you are free to explore the site, combine multiple tours and discover at your own pace. The final tours start around 20.00, giving you ample opportunity to learn, connect and be inspired.

Randwijk as a testing ground for futureproof fruit cultivation
Fruit Research Centre Randwijk is one of the key testing locations within the NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood programme. As part of Innovation Package 1 Open Cultivation, technologies such as sensors, robotics and data-driven systems are tested here in real-world conditions. The strength of this location lies in the fact that innovations are not just developed in the lab but are validated directly in the field. From autonomous vehicles and smart spraying techniques to data-driven orchard monitoring, what is learned here helps bring innovations to market faster and makes them more applicable across the entire sector.
