A lot of interaction, new insights and meaningful connections at GreenTech Amsterdam
GreenTech Amsterdam 2025 once again provided a strong platform for technological innovation in greenhouse horticulture. For three days, the RAI was all about smart solutions, autonomous systems and international collaboration. NXTGEN Hightech was present to represent the Handsfree Agrifood ecosystem. With many inspiring conversations, valuable meetings and fresh perspectives, the event offered a powerful opportunity to strengthen existing ties and spark new collaborations.
AI on stage, with NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood in the spotlight
During a well-attended session on AI and robotics, NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood took center stage. The presentation explored the journey from automation to real intelligence, highlighting the raw edges of emerging technology. Carlo van de Weijer from EAISI outlined the broader AI landscape, after which Suzanne Verboon translated this into the Dutch food and floriculture sector. She shared insights into the roadmap of handsfree innovations within NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood, from data-driven cultivation to scalable robotics. Erik Pekkeriet from Wageningen University explained how AI is integrated into various use cases and cross-cutting activities, while Koppert, winner of the 2024 Concept Award, presented the latest advances in greenhouse robotics and AI.
Bringing the Handsfree Agrifood ecosystem to life with a guided tour across the exhibition
To make the NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood story tangible, a guided tour was organized along the partners contributing to the greenhouse horticulture innovation package. The interactive map led visitors to 30MHz, LetsGrow, Gearbox, Koppert and Octiva, Ridder, Bosman Van Zaal, Hoogendoorn, TNO and Robocrops. Each partner highlighted their role in the use cases, covering digital twins, data standards, robotics platforms and after-harvest solutions. The tour brought the ecosystem to life and showed real-world progress in handsfree greenhouse horticulture.
