Biomedical Production Technology

A strong value chain for the Netherlands

Lab-on-Chip, Organ-on-Chip, Artificial Organs, and Cell Production Technology: the Netherlands is not lacking in knowledge. What is missing, however, is a determined approach to transform this knowledge into groundbreaking products. With the NXTGEN Hightech program, we are making the difference in this area.

The challenge

From knowledge to production

The (academic) knowledge in the Netherlands is very high in the areas of Lab-on-Chip, Organ-on-Chip, Artificial Organs, and Cell Production Technology, but it is not (effectively) transformed into products. The main reason for this is the need for a multidisciplinary chain of suppliers of high-quality specialist components in both the technological and biological fields.

The strategy

A dynamic ecosystem

We can achieve this by connecting pieces of existing technology together, for example, for the production of chips, cells, bioactive materials. The companies already exist, but because they come from different fields, they sometimes do not yet speak the same language, let alone have technologies that interconnect seamlessly. Therefore, we are creating an ecosystem, an environment, where we collaborate intensively and align technologies with each other.
